A Sense of Simplicity: AU Xemitas Drabble

xemnastorres:

It was easy to get used to simple touches and fingers through tousled hair in the morning - which was something neither of them had ever been used to in their earlier years.  No, this had become an unspoken routine.  Eight feet, four more, four hands and eight eyes all crammed onto a bed that wasn’t meant to contain such weight and size.

But now it was routine, the tangle of limbs and hot breath from every direction.

An occasional brush of a foreign, worn and gritty dog-pad against a cheek in the morning as the light flickered through the drapes in the windows to the side…  Or perhaps the sound of smacking lips as one rolled over to face the other, silver blending perfectly into strands of black as gold peered into orange like sunlight.

Tan fingers on your cheek as you looked around was nothing new.  It had melted into your memory of the morning along with new scents.  Sweat, dog, musk and sometimes sweet coffee from the kitchen.

Meeting His Brother’s Rival. (Isa) (Attn: Vanitas)

calmbeforethestormisa:

Shifting his weight as he listened, the animosity was as prominent as the sun. Then he began to ask questions about his relationship with Saix, which was enough to have a sigh pass his lips. Though he didn’t imagine this guy actually cared,  he still felt compelled to answer that question. He only spoke how it felt, “He doesn’t want me around because I wasn’t being a good brother to him. Never really talked to him when I should have talked to him. So we’re not on good terms at all,” He murmured lightly, but then added, “Not all siblings get along. Some are just too different.”

As the shorter blue haired teen responded to his rather patronising question, a smirk slowly took form upon Vanitas features as he placed his hands in the front pocket of his hoodie. “That just might mean you and I are more likely to get along, though I make no promises, and don’t expect some cushy friendship or whatever I don’t waste my time on that. I either tolerate you, or I hate you, you’re lucky enough to be on the side where I don’t feel the need to harass you, much. At least you’re smarter than the dumb mutt you’re unfortunate enough to be related to.”

It pleased Vanitas greatly to have someone whom was Saix’s own family against the dangerously easily aggrovated idiot, at the very least Vanitas would make sure to use it to his advantage, especially Isa’s little slip about not talking to him when he supposedly needed to. “It’s probably a good thing you never went to visit him like he expected of you, I guarantee he would have pushed you around and made you feel worthless. Prove to him you’re better than that, better than him.” There was nothing more enjoyable than attempting to expand the rift between Saix and Isa, the further against Saix Isa was, the more advantageous it was for Vanitas.

In The Auditorium {Vanitas and Ventus}

vens-gonewiththewind:

Ventus gave Vanitas a look of mild surprise. He hadn’t expected him to be in the theatre class like he was, but it was a welcome surprise. At least they something in common, as far as he knew.

“You bet I am! It’s nice to meet another theatre student.” Ven grinned with excitement. He was now more curious than ever about the other boy; he wondered what his story was; what theatre practice he enjoyed, his preferred medium of acting, if he liked working backstage or not. Just thinking about it was filling him up with an excitement he could barely repress.

It was quite easy to note the blondes growing enthusiasm towards the topic, however Vanitas was never one to show his hand at the beginning of the game and expect to still keep his moves concealed. He refused to give away more than a little information in relation to his life, and this was no exception to the rule, if Ventus wanted to find out more, he would need to prove himself and his patience to the ebony haired teen. After all he was a theatre student, it would be quite simple for him to keep his poker face regardless of what Ventus may say.

“Ah, so you’re a theatre student too huh? I’d say I’ve never seen you in any of the classes, but I don’t show up to them anyway. I have better things to do than waste my time surrounded by such simple minded people. I can guarantee not one of them will make it further than the first year. It’s amusing how much time they don’t even realise they’re wasting.” He paused, golden orbs on the teen as he seemingly assessed him for a moment, making sure to exaggerate the action slightly. “You know what, prove me wrong, be the one that makes it and you may just be lucky enough to learn more about me.”

❀ || To Paint or Not To Paint ;; Vanitas & Naminé

shiroi-magic:

There had only been one time where Naminé was afraid for her own life. She was seven at the time and was playing in the front yard of her house. Never did she notice that full grown German Shepherd across the street or how it managed to jump over the fence. She hadn’t expected it to chase into her backyard and up a tree like some sort of cat.

The look in the eyes below her though—fierce, dangerous, and glowing yellow—immediately reminded her of that time back then. It was a chill that slithered up her spine and her heartbeat sped up faster than when she ran. Human instincts told her point blank: you’re in danger.

It was worse when she realized just who she spilt the paint on. If it was anyone else, maybe they would have let it go—maybe even laugh it off. But no, out of all people that her shade of blue liquid had to land on, it was Vanitas.

She had only known about him from rumors and hushed voices around campus; about the boy with demonic gold eyes and a glare that could kill if directed at you. She had heard that he wasn’t exactly the…friendliest person on campus and made a note to stay away from him if possible.

Looks like fate had a different agenda.

“I—I am. So. Sorry—!” Her voiced trembled in fear as she quickly made her way down the later. A random bystander quickly jogged to Naminé’s side, handing her a towel and quickly dashing off to the other side of the theater where it was safe from the storm that was no doubt about to start.

She didn’t know what else to do but stammer incoherent apologies and flail her arms around. In attempts to make things better though, she took the towel and began wiping off his cheeks and nose as best as he would let her—

Having found himself completely focused on the clumsy blonde girl before him, eyes narrowed dangerously, teeth bared like an angry dog, Vanitas suddenly found himself disinterested in how a sudden hush had fallen over both the theatre and art students. Even the obnoxious, loud mouthed girl had fallen silent, staring at the two with wide, surprised eyes, likely quite curious as to how Vanitas would handle and react to the situation.

For several moments Vanitas did not move, hands clenching and unclenching at his side as the blonde art student hastily grabbed a towel, trying to wipe the paint in clearly quite a panic from his face, which only aggravated the theatre student further. With a snarl Vanitas snatched the towel from the girl’s delicate fingers, slapping the hand away clearly lacking in empathy towards her as he wordlessly began to wipe the paint to the best of his ability from his face, hair and clothing, only resulting in smudging it leaving his skin and clothes a bright blue.

Holding out the now paint covered towel, as if gesturing for the blonde girl to take it back from him, Vanitas instead flicked it out so it would land over her own head, effectively putting at least some of the paint he had been covered in on her own form. She was quite lucky Vanitas had not decided to return the favour, having felt it was nothing more than a waste of his time with this little girl who meant nothing to him.

Looking down to the pages lying amongst the blue puddle at his feet, Vanitas squat for a moment to pick them up, looking at the pages with a suddenly blank expression before moving to straighten up once more, his focus back on the blonde girl in question. Stepping forward Vanitas thrust the paint covered script into her chest. “You’re getting me a replacement script, seeing as its your fault mine was ruined in the first place. Some of us here are actually making use of our time, not painting pictures on a wall like a kid. Remember your place, idiot.”

[OOC: Vanitas canon backstory according to the novel]

Since not many people know this, I thought I should post it. Sourced from HERE

Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep Novels

In the novels, Vanitas’s life between his creation and the events of Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep is expanded upon. At first, Vanitas was a faceless being much like a Heartless but with red eyes, that felt sad for his separation from Ventus. However, that sadness soon turned to hate and contempt for what he considered his weakness. In a way, Vanitas hated himself for being so weak.

Vanitas was well aware of his existence, and soon started questioning why he was born, and every time he felt something, an Unversed would come to be. This caused him to be irritated by the fact that such a monster was born from him, so he destroyed the Unversed with his Keyblade without any hesitation; but every time he destroyed an Unversed, he himself would feel strong physical pain running through his body, and after the Unversed was destroyed, the pain and negative feeling would return to Vanitas’s mind, which added more to the irritation he was feeling and in turn another Unversed of “irritation” would be born from him.

When a newborn’s heart came in contact with Ventus’s fractured heart, he also directly contacted Vanitas’s heart. After feeling a sharp pain in his chest, Vanitas’s body fell to the ground of the wasteland near the Keyblade Graveyard and almost lost his consciousness, feeling being engulfed by absolute Darkness. That was when Vanitas heard Sora’s voice and then he saw Light.

The Light eventually surrounded his whole body. He then heard a voice saying, “Let’s open the door”. Vanitas then opened his eyes and found out that now he had a normal boy’s face. He also realized that someone, probably also a newborn heart like himself, had saved Ventus’s heart from completely fading away.

Because Vanitas told Master Xehanort that if he kept both him and Ventus, he couldn’t guarantee that he could keep Ventus alive, since he found it was hard to suppress his impulse to hurt Ventus, Xehanort had to take Ventus to the Land of Departure, asking Eraqus to take care of the boy. But after Ventus left, Vanitas started to miss him, and he kept wondering why they got separated from each other. This caused him to feel miserable and immense pain.

At the same time, he also felt very lost and anxious about his future; without Ventus, what would become of him? What was he supposed to do? What was the meaning of his existence? Why did he feel so suffocated in his chest? The more he thought about these questions, the more anxious, irritated, and lonely he felt. And the more he felt that, the more Unversed were created. Looking at the Unversed was like looking at his own weakness that he did not want to admit, so he started to kill them in a cycle of suffering that he could not escape.

At the same time, Master Xehanort could only coldly watch Vanitas harming himself from far away. Vanitas desperately wanted to escape from this vicious cycle of pain and suffering. But as young as he was at that time, he simply didn’t know any other ways other than killing the Unversed. Until the point the pain was too much to endure, he finally collapsed onto the ground of Keyblade Graveyard, and cried. Tears started running down his face silently as he lay on the ground, alone. Master Xehanort came to him, telling him the only way for him to achieve salvation was to become the χ-blade.

Becoming the χ-blade was the only way for him to truly unite with Ventus again, and the χ-blade would bring salvation not only to him but also to the whole world. Vanitas desperately wanted to free himself from this unbearable fate, thus to become the χ-blade had now become his goal, his whole life purpose, and his only Light of Hope to lead him out of this Darkness.
